St John the Baptist, Sutterby has been a haven and home for barn owls since before the church came into the care of Friends of Friendless Churches in 1981. We know this because when initial work was carried out to the roof and the building the owls were in situ and apparently nesting in a cavity between the nave and the chancel. - read the article in the attached pdf.
